In Safe Hands offers flexible, competitively priced, and comprehensive portable
appliance (including I.T. equipment) testing services.
In relation to the safety of electrical appliances the law requires that: "As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger" Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Regulation 4(2) In practice businesses and organisations comply with these legal requirements by periodically inspecting and testing portable appliances. Electrical appliance maintenance is also covered by the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 Section 2(2), The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, Regulations 5(1) and 5(2), The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations Regulation 3, and The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regualations 1992, Regulation 5. Landlords have duties under the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994, Regulation 5. The Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Section 11, Subsection (1) (b), covers obligations regarding the electrical installation (i.e. to repair and keep in proper working order). In Safe Hands conducts testing in accordance with the IEE Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection of Electrical Equipment, and Health and Safety Executive guidance (HS(G) 107), by City and Guilds 2377-10 and 2377-20 qualified staff. In Safe Hands will guarantee a fee per appliance 10% cheaper than customers currently pay (receipts required) or £1.19 per item, whichever is less. There is minimum charge of £10 for appliance testing but no callout fee or VAT! Click here to view appliance test fees. Along with appliance testing a PAT management consultancy service can be offered to employers and organisations, click here for further details.
